"Living in the support home was awesome. I was treated like family. We talked about everything; all kinds of stuff and it was helpful. She gave me good advice and listened to me."

  • Aspen staff offer training and support to the home providers, as well as support for the youth attending the program.

  • In 2007, Aspen provided 523 'bed nights' to adolescents attending the 12-week program.

Aspen works closely with AADAC Youth Services to provide residential support to adolescents participating in treatment for alcohol and drug addictions. Aspen's Community Support Home program provides a safe, secure living environment for adolescents while they attend the AADAC Youth Services Day Treatment or the 12-week ACTION Program. The Community Support Home program provides support home placements for up to six youth at a time, most of whom are from communities outside of the Calgary area.

Support homes located throughout Calgary provide a temporary home, meals, support, transportation, supervision, recreational opportunities, life skills training and encouragement. Aspen is responsible for finding, screening and preparing host families who wish to generously open their doors to individuals enrolled in these programs.
