quick facts
  • The Student Health Partnership is integrated in over 100 Calgary and Area schools.
  • Aspen works with students of all ages - from kindergarten to grade 12.
  • In 2007, the program helped 200 students work through problems that were affecting them in school.
  • Issues that are addressed include emotional, social or behavioural concerns, family issues and academic concerns.

Few people have as much contact with children as their teachers and school resource staff. Often, these adults see telltale signs of health, lifestyle and nutritional problems that need attention. Untreated physical and mental health problems not only affect a child's ability to learn; it can lead to serious long-term developmental issues.

The Family School Liaison program exists as a partnership with Enviros Wilderness School Association in collaboration with the Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Rocky View Student Health Partnership. It is a program designed to assist students facing physical/mental health and social concerns that keep them from succeeding in school. The program supports nearly 200 students a year, from kindergarten to grade 12.

When a social-emotional concern is identified by the school, a Family-School Liaison will work with the families, schools and students to support a plan of action.
